About the Event
Join Spooky Paranormal Investigations for an evening paranormal investigation at Whitwell & Reepham Railway Station in Reepham, Norfolk.
This is a hands-on paranormal investigation rather than a theatrical ghost attraction. You’ll investigate different areas of this historic railway site using paranormal investigation equipment and methods, supported by the SPI team throughout the evening.
SPI does not promise or guarantee paranormal activity. We do not use actors, staged scares or knowingly manufacture paranormal activity or evidence. We encourage guests to consider ordinary explanations and form their own conclusions.

About the Venue
Whitwell Station opened on 1 July 1882 as part of the railway between Melton Constable and Norwich City.
Passenger services ended in 1959 and freight services in 1964. Following years of preservation work, Whitwell & Reepham Railway Station reopened in 2009, 50 years after passenger services ended.
Today, the restored heritage railway includes the station, museum, railway stock, signal box and other railway buildings and infrastructure.
Accessibility & Physical Access
Accessibility for this particular investigation is very limited.
Although parts of the railway are accessible during normal public opening, SPI investigates additional areas with significant physical-access limitations.
Wheelchair users will generally only be able to participate in sessions taking place in the museum and platform areas.
The signal box is accessed by steps and is not wheelchair accessible.
The workshop has a large step and is not wheelchair accessible.
Accessing railway carriages and moving between investigation areas may involve steps, crossing railway tracks and uneven surfaces. Outdoor areas may become muddy or slippery depending on the weather.
An accessible toilet is available.
If you have mobility, accessibility or participation requirements, please contact SPI before booking so we can explain the expected areas and discuss any reasonable adjustments that may be possible.
You do not normally need to provide a medical diagnosis — it is more useful to tell us about the barrier you may experience or the adjustment you require.
Areas We Investigate
Subject to operational, safety and venue requirements, areas may include:
- railway carriages
- the museum
- the signal box
- the workshop
- the platform and surrounding railway areas
The exact areas available may occasionally change. SPI will explain any restricted areas and venue-specific hazards during the event briefing.
What Happens During the Evening?
Guests will meet the SPI team, check in and receive an introduction and important safety and venue briefing.
You’ll normally be divided into smaller investigation groups and rotate through different areas of the railway.
SPI hosts will introduce investigation equipment, methods and experiments and support guests who have never investigated before.
Scheduled breaks will take place during the evening.
Where venue rules, staffing, time and safety arrangements allow, there may also be opportunities for quieter or more independent investigation. This cannot be guaranteed and does not allow access to restricted or unsupervised areas.
Meeting Point, Parking & Base Area
Free parking is available in the venue’s main car park.
A member of the SPI team will meet guests outside the function room for check-in.
The function room will act as SPI’s base and break area.
Guests may leave coats, bags and belongings there, although personal belongings remain the responsibility of the guest.
Please arrive at the advertised time.
If you are running late, contact SPI as soon as possible. Where venue arrangements allow, we will normally try to accommodate arrivals up to approximately 15 minutes after the advertised start time, but late admission cannot be guaranteed once the investigation has begun.
Equipment, What to Bring & Refreshments
SPI provides a range of paranormal investigation equipment for guests to use and will explain how it works.
Guests are welcome to bring their own investigation equipment and remain responsible for it throughout the evening.
Please bring:
- a torch
- flat, sturdy footwear
- warm clothing and additional layers
- any personal medication or essential items you require
- your own investigation equipment if you wish
- snacks and non-alcoholic drinks if wanted
The investigation takes place in a historic railway environment and may involve low-light conditions, railway tracks, uneven ground, steps, railway carriages and outdoor areas.
Please dress appropriately for the weather.
SPI will provide tea and coffee.
The venue café will not be open during the investigation.
Guests may bring their own food and non-alcoholic drinks, and a small SPI tuck shop may also be available.
